For the past twenty-five years, Tim Green has been ministering at Trevecca Nazarene University where he serves as Dean of the Millard Reed School of Religion, the Chaplain of the University, and the Professor of Old Testament Literature and Theology. Prior to his ministry at Trevecca, he served in various ministerial assignments at churches in Hendersonville, Tennessee; Cincinnati, Ohio, Springdale; and Nashville, Tennessee, Grace. He graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in 1983 with his B.A. in Religion and a minor in New Testament Greek. During that time he was involved in various student leadership roles and served as a tutor in the Department of Religion. Following his undergraduate work, he received the M.A. and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in Religion, focusing in Old Testament with a minor in New Testament.

While at Trevecca, he has received various recognitions, including Faculty Member of the Year, the Teaching Excellence Award, and the Alumni Association’s McClurkan Award. He is the author of numerous periodical articles, cantata narrations, and contributor to numerous texts as well as the author of a number of books, including So What Now?—Celebrating My Identity in Christ, Discovering the Old Testament: Story and Faith, Vital Beginnings, Never Alone, Philippians Lectio Divina, Dancing Solo: Finding Your Own Rhythm in a Performance-Driven World, New Beacon Bible Commentary: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, and most recently The God Plot: Living With Holy Imagination.

He is a frequent speaker at university lecture series and revivals, district family camps, lay and clergy retreats, and single adult and youth events, including NYC North America and NYC South Pacific. He presently serves as a member of the Book Committee and Editorial Committee of Beacon Hill Press. In addition to serving as guest lecturer at Nazarene Theological Seminary, he has served as a regular adjunct faculty member of Old Testament at European Nazarene College in Busingen, Germany, and has taught classes in Russia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Jordan, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, and Moldova.

Tim’s deepest passion is to glorify the Lord through his preaching and teaching ministry and to challenge the people of God to recognize and receive life as the great gift from God and to share the gift of life with their world. He particularly counts it a great privilege to share in ministry on a day-to-day basis with university students, pastors, and lay leaders as they serve in the church of Jesus Christ!
